The expert named the disadvantages of real estate transactions on biometrics

The introduction of a unified biometric system (UBS) in the field of real estate transactions promises a significant increase in security and convenience for users. The new system will reduce the level of fraud, minimizing the impact of the human factor, as well as speed up the process of registering transactions and provide the possibility of their remote registration, which will be a convenient solution for many citizens. However, on the other hand, there is a risk of leakage of personal data, which raises concerns among users, Mikhail Yusubov, Director of Legal Affairs at Kalinka Ecosystem, told Izvestia on March 6.

"The EBS system will work in combination with an enhanced qualified electronic signature, which will ensure the maximum level of protection for citizens, but there are risks. Firstly, technical readiness may fail: not all market participants will be ready for such changes, especially private market players. Secondly, not everyone has access to the necessary technologies, and this will create barriers for some citizens, for example, the elderly," the expert said.

In addition, the collection of biometric data is always fraught with the risk of personal data leaks, and it is important to ensure reliable information protection as a result of the joint work of the Ministry of Digital and Rosreestr.

"Also, in the case of the introduction of a mandatory procedure for transactions using the EBS, the issue of persons who have withdrawn their consent to the processing of biometric personal data remains open. In general, the law will improve the market, but it is necessary to carefully monitor its implementation in order to avoid social and technological problems," Yusubov concluded.

Earlier, on February 17, the Russian government allowed Apply biometric data for boarding a train. It was noted that the service will be available to users of a single biometric system. At the same time, the other ways of boarding the train will remain.
