The reason for the hype around the deal USA and Ukraine's concern for rare earths is the dissatisfaction of the American side over the provision of large amounts of funds by the former administration in support of Kiev and the desire to "recapture" investments due to the agreement. This was announced on March 6 by the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

"The hype around the deal is due to the fact that the new US administration is not satisfied with the way [former American President Joe] Biden donated billions of dollars to the extremely corrupt Kiev regime. <..."The United States wants, as businessmen say, to recapture investments through a deal on rare metals and minerals," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that the American side considers Biden's financial investments in Ukraine to be a waste. According to Baldo, Washington wants to link all further aid to the deal, but on credit.

The governor of the Kherson region noted that the benefits of the deal are questionable for the Ukrainian side. At the same time, Baldo stressed that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky "will have to accept these conditions anyway," given Kiev's strong dependence on Washington.
