A fire at the Maanshan nuclear power plant occurred in southern Taiwan. This was reported on March 6 by Dimsum Daily.

Witnesses of the incident noticed black smoke rising over the territory of the station. One of the eyewitnesses confirmed that the source of the fire is inside the nuclear facility. Fire departments were sent to the scene of the emergency.

"At the moment, the cause of the smoke remains unclear, and the Taiwanese Energy Company has not yet provided any official comments on the incident," the publication said.

The Maanshan NPP is Taiwan's third nuclear facility. She started working in 1984.
