Rubio called the conflict in Ukraine a proxy war between the United States and Russia

The Ukrainian conflict is a proxy war between USA, which provide support Ukraine, and Russia. On Thursday, March 6, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated this in an interview with Fox News.
"It was very clear from the very beginning that the President [of the United States Donald] Trump considers this conflict to be protracted and deadlocked. Frankly, this is a proxy war between the nuclear powers.: The United States, which is helping Ukraine, and Russia. And it must be finished," he said.
In addition, the US Secretary of State added that the plan of Ukraine and its allies is to "give as much as it takes."
Rubio noted that both sides, both Russian and Ukrainian, should be involved in resolving the conflict. In this regard, the American diplomat urged Ukraine not to sabotage and to show interest in concluding a peace agreement.
On the eve of March 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Moscow has a positive attitude towards the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Putin Zelensky on readiness for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This is how the president's press secretary commented on Trump's words about receiving a letter from the Ukrainian leader with a similar statement.
