Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Turkey intends to "open a new era of firefighting" in the country and involve robot dogs in fighting fires. This was reported on March 6 by the newspaper Türkiye.

" Thanks to the new technology, robot dogs will begin fire patrols at large industrial enterprises and critical facilities. The Swedish security company Securitas, operating in 44 countries, provides fire extinguishing services in 15 countries, including Turkey," the newspaper reports.

Such changes were announced after a major fire at a ski resort in Bolu province in January, which killed 78 people.

"The first 180 seconds at the beginning of a fire are crucial. If no intervention is made during this period, the fire will be difficult to control and will cause irreparable damage. The most common cause of fires at industrial facilities in Turkey and Europe is electrical failures," said Ugur Yertut, General Director of the Securitas Fire Department.

A large-scale fire at the Bolu resort occurred on the night of January 21, 2025. 78 people died in it. The fire started in a wooden hotel located at an altitude of 2.2 thousand m. It was clarified that there were almost 240 guests in the building. January 26, the owner of the Grand Kartal Hotel Halit Ergul called the hotel staff responsible for the fire.
