In 2024, Russia rejected the proposed Ukraine via Turkey of the new grain deal, which was "unilateral in nature." This was reported on March 5 by the TV channel RT.

"Last November, Kiev once again offered something similar to a grain deal. These considerations have been conveyed Moscow by the President of Turkey. On behalf of the Russian President, they were comprehensively reviewed by the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense," the statement said.

However, it is further clarified that it was decided to abandon the deal, "since the proposals were unilateral in nature."

In October 2024, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia href="https://iz.ru/1780224/2024-10-25/peskov-napomnil-o-nevypolnenii-zapadom-uslovii-zernovoi-sdelki">напомнил about the West's failure to comply with the terms of the grain deal. Also, commenting on the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the Russian leader is looking for conditions to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Ukraine, Peskov said that this should be clarified with the head of the Turkish state himself.
