Oil supplies to the Czech Republic via the Druzhba pipeline have stopped due to payment problems caused by anti-Russian sanctions from the West. This was reported on March 5 by Reuters.

The agency stressed that it was initially unclear why water supplies had stopped the day before. However, according to Czech Industry Minister Lukas Vlcek, the suspension of supplies was caused by payment problems between the Polish owner of Czech refineries and Russian suppliers.

One of the sources told Reuters that the latest package of US sanctions led to problems with payments.

At the same time, the refinery is still operating at full capacity, Vlcek said that there is no risk of shortage.

According to him, the country may switch to the upgraded TAL pipeline if the cessation of supplies through Druzhba proves to be long-term.

Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Lukas Vlcek announced the suspension of Russian oil supplies via Druzhba on March 4. Then he noted that there was no shortage of raw materials for the needs of Czech companies and households.
