French President Emmanuel Macron announced on March 5 a gathering of the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces of the European Union (EU) countries to discuss a plan to provide security guarantees for Kiev, which will take place next week.

"The world on In Ukraine, it may involve the deployment of European forces. They will not go to war today, they will not go to fight on the front line, but, on the contrary, they will be there as soon as peace is signed to guarantee its full observance. Starting next week, we will gather in Paris the heads of the general staffs of the countries who wish to assume responsibility in this regard," the head of state said.

The statement was made during Macron's address to the citizens of France, which was broadcast on the website of the Elysee Palace.

On February 24, Macron named possible dates for a cease-fire on Ukraine. According to him, this can be achieved "in the next few weeks." The French President also positively assessed the negotiations between Moscow and Washington, explaining that there was nothing surprising in the fact that European representatives were not present at them.
