Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on March 5 that he wanted to ask French President Emmanuel Macron about the wisdom of further support Of Ukraine by Europe.

He noted that there have been "fundamental changes" in the Ukrainian conflict: The United States has sided with those who support a peaceful resolution of the crisis. At the same time, Orban noted that Brussels had previously failed to achieve a victory for Kiev, even with the active participation of Washington. Without the United States, the position of the militarist party in the West has only weakened, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated.

"Why are they (supporters of supporting Ukraine. — Ed.) Now they think they can win? <...I would like to get an answer to this question: why French?..Is the position reasonable?" Orban said in a video from a plane flying to Brussels, which he posted on his personal Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The meeting of the Hungarian and French leaders will take place before the European Union (EU) summit on Ukraine on March 6.

The day before, the newspaper Politico reported that the EU fears disruption of the meeting by a group of leaders led by Orban. According to the newspaper, events at the summit may develop in several directions, while it is noted that it is possible to confirm Kiev's path to membership in the European Union. The draft version of the final statement prepared on the eve of the summit states that the EU is obliged to "continue to provide Ukraine with regular and predictable financial assistance."

Earlier, on March 3, Orban stated that considers the decision of the EU leaders to continue the conflict in Ukraine, adopted at the summit in London last weekend, to be wrong and dangerous. He added that Hungary does not accept the decisions of the European Union and "remains aloof" from them.
