Sales of new passenger cars decreased by 25% in February%

Lada remains the most popular car brand, with its share rising to 31%. According to Autostat, 24,573 cars of this brand were registered in February, which is 14.3 less than last year.

The Chinese brand Haval became the leader among foreign cars again, however, its sales fell by 20.1%, to 9570 units. The next four positions in the ranking were also occupied by brands from China — Chery (8,389 units), Geely (5,101 units), Changan (4,424 units) and Omoda (2,040 units). The Belarusian Belgee came in seventh place with a score of one in 2001. China's Jetour (1,770 units), Jaecoo (1,627 units) and Exeed (1,442 units) also entered the top 10.

Despite the general decline in the market, three brands from the top ten showed positive dynamics in February, namely Jetour (+22.5%), Jaecoo (+39.8%) and Belgee (+92%).

In the two months of 2025, 167,112 new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 9.3% less than in January-February last year.

Lada Granta family cars are still in the lead in the model standings - 9513 units. This is 27.2% less than a year ago. Lada Vesta is in second place, with sales increasing by 14% in February to 8,169 units.

The Chinese Haval Jolion crossover remained the most popular foreign car in the country, but its sales immediately fell by 25%. It is followed by Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (3652 units, -2.9%). This is followed by two Russian SUVs — Lada Niva Travel (2,771 units, -33.6%) and Lada Niva Legend (2,095 units, -49.4%). In addition to them, the top ten best sellers are Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, Changan Uni-S/CS55 Plus, Lada Largus and Geely Monjaro.

On March 5, the Committee of Automakers of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) announced that February 2025 set a ten-year anti-record in new car sales. According to Alexey Kalitsev, Chairman of the committee, such factors as increased recycling fees, high cost of loans and reduced availability, as well as changes in the tax system led to a reduction in sales.
