Vadim Tumasov, commander of the 3rd motorized Rifle company BARS-6, told Izvestia on March 5 about how he held positions under fire from the Armed Forces Ukraine (Ukrainian Armed Forces) in the village of Belogorovka, Luhansk People's Republic (LNR).

"When the assault began, something went wrong. We came under mortar fire, I broke through alone, the group rolled back. Well, there was no point in going back, because I could also come under fire. I rode forward on a motorcycle, passed through several positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and when they realized what was happening there, they started firing at me with a Kalashnikov machine gun," the fighter said.

He clarified that he hid behind the tanks, after which a "miracle" happened and the enemy machine gun stopped working. Tumasov was then able to contact the command and explain the situation on the battlefield.

The company commander also said that he received a shrapnel wound, as a result of which his eyesight deteriorated. He added that he always made quick decisions on the battlefield and stayed alive because of it.

That Tumasov during 81 days, seven of which alone, he held positions under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it became known at the end of February. The command offered to award him a "Gold Star" and award him the title of "Hero of Russia."
