Russians increased spending on shopping in 2025


A third of Russians increased their spending on shopping in 2025. This is stated in the results of a survey conducted by the Renaissance Insurance group, which were reviewed by Izvestia on March 6.
At the same time, the respondents said that they began to think more often about budget planning. So, 40% admitted that they began to save a specific amount for shopping. This thrift is especially characteristic of the older generation.: 74% of people between the ages of 46 and 50 distribute the amounts in advance. Buzzers have the exact opposite of financial literacy: 67% of young people between the ages of 18 and 25 do not consider it necessary to track spending.
A third of Russians have a monthly shopping budget of 10 thousand to 20 thousand rubles (32%), and in the last three months alone, one in five (21%) complained that they went beyond this amount, and for 23% of respondents this was a significant blow to the wallet. At the same time, 46% spent more than 50 thousand rubles on shopping. New appliances and gadgets (19%), hobby supplies (12%) and repair goods (11%) were among the most expensive purchases.
Russians most often protect purchases with care (25%), and one in 20 (5%) uses protective cases, cases or uses protected storage areas. 7% of respondents use an insurance policy to protect expensive purchases.
Artem Iskra, Director of the retail insurance underwriting department at Renaissance Insurance, noted that Russians most often apply for insurance policies due to cracked screens, mechanical damage to gadgets (40%), manufacturer's defects (55%), liquid flooding or drowning of equipment in water (4%).
Earlier, on February 19, it was reported that among the Russians surveyed, 48% of respondents plan to increase your income by the end of the year. This was stated in the results of the financial marketplace research. So, 16% stated that they plan to take a part-time job, 9% will ask the employer for a raise, 16% are going to open their own business.
