On March 5, deputies of the State Duma adopted amendments to expand the experiment on passing the basic state exam (OGE) in 2025 only in Russian and mathematics, expanding it to seven more regions of Russia.

So, now seven more regions will be involved in it: the Krasnodar Territory, the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Lipetsk and Saratov regions, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, as well as Kamchatka and Kuzbass.

According to the draft law, which was considered in the first reading, it was supposed to try taking the exam according to the new rules in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov and Tyumen regions, as well as the Republic of North Ossetia —Alania. Thus, now 12 regions of the country will participate in the experiment.

"The participation of the Kamchatka Territory in the OGE pilot project is an additional opportunity for ninth graders of the region to simultaneously receive secondary education and a profession. I am sure that the adoption of this amendment and the opportunities provided by the new targeted recruitment mechanism we have developed will be able to motivate many children to enter secondary vocational education," State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya told reporters.

Before that, on February 28, the State Duma Committee on Education approved amendments to the second reading of the draft law on new rules for passing the OGE, according to which students in 12 regions of the country will have to score a minimum score on the exam to advance to the 10th the class. At the same time, the minimum score will be set by each subject of the Russian Federation separately. Those who do not score the required minimum of OGE points for admission to the 10th grade will receive preferential admission to colleges in their region at the expense of the regional budget.
