The Russians listed the main causes of disputes in the couple during the renovation process

Today, women make up more than half (54%) of buyers of goods and services for home renovation and improvement, an area that has traditionally been considered male. This is stated in the results of the Lemana PRO company's research, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 6. At the same time, 56% of Russians surveyed said that they encounter conflicts and quarrels in a couple during the repair work.

The choice of finishing materials is more often the cause of conflicts, and for men this aspect is more critical (33%) compared to women (13%). In second place is the choice of interior style (21%). Budget issues (20%) and the choice of interior items (19%) are also among the common disagreements. Experts found that the main difficulty in repairs for both groups remains the stage of work itself: 32% of men and 29% of women noted it.

At the same time, men are more likely to initiate repairs (62% versus 52% of women), and also lead in process management (76% versus 50%). At the same time, 75% of men answered that they take on all or most of the tasks of repair and furnishing, while women are more likely to talk about dividing responsibilities equally (41%). In addition, representatives of the male audience are more likely to control the budget for repairs (60% versus 49%).

At the same time, 56% of Russians said that they independently determine the style of the interior. At the same time, women are twice as likely as men (62% versus 29%) to involve partners in the process of choosing and purchasing materials for repairs and construction, while men are more likely to do it on their own (41% versus 16%).

"We see that the female audience is increasingly involved in the field of renovation and landscaping, which used to be traditionally considered male. Of course, this greatly affects the development of the segment and is an important signal for both retailers and suppliers of goods and services. In particular, there is a growing demand for affordable, understandable and convenient solutions for home improvement — consultations, turnkey projects, comprehensive installation and assembly services," said Ekaterina Zhmurova, Head of Lemana PRO's Consumer Behavior Research and Market Analytics Department.

According to research, 47% of those who carried out repairs in 2024 delegated some or all of the work to specialists in an effort to save time.

Earlier, on December 29, 2024, it was reported that among the Russians surveyed 9% of respondents plan to make repairs in 2025. Such data follows from the results of a survey conducted by MAXIMUM Education. Another 15% of respondents plan to visit a new country on vacation, and 12% plan to help their child with admission.
