A resident of the village of Kuragino in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was sentenced to 22 years in a general regime penal colony for the murder of her three-year-old daughter and the attempted murder of an eight-year-old. This was announced on March 5 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office in the Telegram channel.

"The court found the woman guilty of murdering a minor (paragraphs "b, d" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code), attempted murder (part 3 of Article 30, paragraph "a, b,d" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code) and, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced by the age of 22 in a general regime penal colony," the ministry said.

The murder occurred on the morning of June 25, 2024. That day, a 34-year-old drunk resident of Kuragino entered her daughters' room and told one of them, an eight-year-old girl, to lie on her back, after which she stabbed her with a knife. After that, she went to get an axe and hit her three-year-old daughter with it several times, who later died.

"Thanks to timely medical care, the woman's eldest daughter survived. Another child, a six—year-old girl, who was also at home, was not injured. The brutal massacre of her sister took place in front of her eyes," the prosecutor's office said.

It later became clear that the reason for such an act was the woman's jealousy of her husband and his suspicion of treason. In this way, she wanted to take revenge on her husband, who was at work at the time of the massacre.

During the investigation, the accused claimed that she had attacked her own daughters in a state of passion. But the examination showed that at the time of the murder she was aware of what was happening and acted consciously.

"In accordance with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court cannot impose a sentence of life imprisonment on a woman," the press service of the prosecutor's office reminded.

Earlier, on February 28, a resident of Angarsk was sentenced to eight years in prison for the murder of his mother. The murder occurred on June 13, 2024, in an apartment in block 92/93. The court found that a 40-year-old woman strangled her 57-year-old mother with a pillow while she was sleeping on the couch. The victim died at the scene.
