Rospotrebnadzor gave a positive response to the appeal of Sergey Kolunov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, to increase fines for unsanitary conditions in apartments. This was announced on March 5 by RIA Novosti with a link to the received document.

"Rospotrebnadzor will support your proposal when preparing the relevant draft opinion (official review) of the government of the Russian Federation," Rospotrebnadzor said.

The appeal proposed to increase fines from 500-1.5 thousand rubles to 25 thousand rubles for individuals, and from 10-20 thousand rubles to 500 thousand rubles for legal entities in case of detection of unsanitary conditions in apartments.

In November 2024, the State Duma proposed to increase the fine for unsanitary conditions in apartments. Then Deputy Kolunov called the problem quite serious, as often the smell from a dirty apartment begins to spread throughout the house, causing inconvenience and harm to the health of neighbors.
