Vasily Piskarev, chairman of the State Duma Commission to Investigate foreign interference in Russia's internal affairs, announced an increase in funding for anti-Russian activities by foreign agents. This was announced on March 5 by the State Duma commission investigating outside interference.

"Last year, unfriendly countries spent about 12 billion rubles on non-governmental organizations alone, compared with 10.9 billion rubles a year earlier. How many more are pouring in is anyone's guess. Despite the quantitative reduction of non-governmental organizations, and now there are 42 of them, their high level of funding has been maintained for several years," the press service quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel of the department.

Piskarev also informed that the increase in information activity of foreign agents increases during periods of deterioration of the situation of the Armed Forces Ukraine (AFU), the amount of funding can be used to assess the role of foreign agents in carrying out ideological sabotage against the Russian Federation.

"The Commission continues to work on improving legislation to protect the sovereignty of our country. The State Duma will consider today a package of bills prepared by us, providing for the introduction of new prohibitions and restrictions for persons under foreign influence," he concluded.

Earlier, on January 31, in the State Duma a package of bills has been introduced aimed at protecting the sovereignty of the Russian Federation and countering foreign interference. The package includes, among other things, bans on the participation of foreign agents in education and enlightenment, and on their receiving support at all levels of government (supplemented by a ban on support at the municipal level.
