The theft of Russian frozen assets shows Europe's fear of Russia. This opinion was shared on March 4 by Maxim Ivanov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said at a briefing that Kiev had received a loan from the proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation. The official did not specify which state provided the loan to Ukraine. He also added that Kiev's goal is to "confiscate all $300 billion" held in the accounts of international financial institutions.

"Someone is allowing them to use our assets. This probably means that Russia's position is strengthening. Europe is afraid of Russia's strengthening and leaves no choice but to move on," Ivanov quotes Duma TV for Izvestia.

He added that the hysteria that is taking place in Europe and Ukraine regarding Russian assets will not lead to anything good, because it is theft, and "it is always punished."

Earlier, on March 3, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that London, together with Paris and other allies, had agreed on a new loan to Ukraine using profits from frozen Russian assets. According to him, the issue of using Russian frozen assets is "very complex and ambiguous."

On the same day, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that attempts to seize Russia's frozen assets for transfer to Ukraine would have href="https://iz.ru/1847963/2025-03-03/v-kremle-predupredili-o-posledstviah-peredaci-zamorozennyh-aktivov-rf-kievu " target="_blank">serious legal consequences. He noted that there have been more and more such ideas in the West lately. He noted that the sensible voices of those who urge to come to their senses and not destroy investor confidence were in the minority.
