Russia has significantly strengthened the primary healthcare sector. This was announced on March 4 by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko at the Women for a Healthy Society forum.

"We have significantly strengthened the primary healthcare sector. Polyclinics and district city hospitals are being built all over the country, and new medical and obstetric centers are being opened," she said.

Matvienko added that oncological and perinatal centers are also developing dynamically in the regions. According to her, Russia has reached the lowest infant mortality rates in the country's history.

On the same day, it became known that the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) preclinical studies of antitumor genetically engineered drug for cancer have been completed. It was clarified that the drug carries two protoxin genes that are activated in tumor cells and trigger their death mechanisms.
