On March 23, a reception was held at the Embassy of the Czechoslovak Republic on the occasion of the visit of Czechoslovak President Edward Benes to Moscow, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

The event was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Shvernik, Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR Molotov.

There were exactly 48 days left until the Great Victory.

Also, on March 23, the soldiers of the 3rd Belorussian Front continued fighting to destroy a group of German troops on the coast of Frisch-Gaf Bay in the Heiligenbail area, as well as an offensive in the Danzig direction.
