Our troops defeated the enemy southwest of Oppeln

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front continued their offensive west and south of the city of Oppeln. The strike was carried out simultaneously in two places — from the Grottkau area and from the bridgehead beyond the Oder River north of the city of Ratibor, Izvestia reports.
"A few days ago, the enemy launched fierce counterattacks, throwing up to six infantry regiments with 35 tanks into battle. His offensive was supported by massive artillery fire. The attacks followed continuously. But all attempts by the enemy to improve their positions have failed," the publication says.
There were exactly 49 days left until the Great Victory.
According to the testimony of the prisoners, the German units of the front line lost up to 60% of their personnel from artillery fire. On March 22, a salute was held in Moscow in honor of the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front with 20 artillery volleys from 224 guns.
The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
