Czechoslovak President Eduard Benes arrives in Moscow on an official visit


On March 18, 1945, the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, Eduard Bonesz, and his wife arrived in Moscow on their way from London to Czechoslovakia. This is reported by the newspaper Izvestia.
"The Czechoslovak Prime Minister, Mr. Jan Schramsk, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jan Masaryk, the Ambassador of the Czechoslovak Republic to Moscow, Mr. N. Firlinger, as well as representatives of various political parties of Czechoslovakia arrived with the President. The President was accompanied from Baku by the head of the Protocol Department of the USSR NKID, F. Molochkov, and the deputy head of the 4th European Department of the USSR NKID, A.N. Abramov," reads the publication's message dated March 18, 1945.
At the main airfield, Benes was met by Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs V.M. Molotov, Deputy People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs A. Ya. Vyshinsky, Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Council A.F. Gorkin and other influential figures.
There were exactly 52 days left until the Great Victory.
A guard of honor was formed at the meeting, and the anthems of Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union were played. The airfield was decorated with flags of the states.
