Germany warned Europe about the risks of spending on its own and Ukrainian defense

Europe risks facing an overload in case of simultaneous rearmament of the continent's countries and Of Ukraine. This was announced on March 4 by retired Colonel Wolfgang Richter.
"The European Union and the United Kingdom have decided to build up their own defense potential, which competes with the help of Ukraine. This means that Europe is moving towards overloading both budgets and production capacities," he said on the N-tv channel on YouTube.
Richter noted that between The United States and Ukraine have had very close military cooperation, and it will become more difficult for Kiev if Washington stops providing aid.
According to him, the United Kingdom, France and Germany can cover some of the weapons, but "not in full," which will contribute to the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine. Richter also stressed that the European side "would do well to try" to influence the negotiations and "jump on the train" to participate in them.
"Increasing the size of the army by trying to recruit another 20,000 volunteers is a very limited strategy. It may be necessary to return to some kind of conscription system in order to recruit more personnel to man additional units. This is a task for the future," he added.
The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen presented in Brussels on March 4 a five-point plan for the rearmament of Europe. According to her, the list is a guide to using all the financial levers at the disposal of the European Union to help members of the association quickly and significantly increase defense spending urgently and over a long period of 10 years.
