President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday, March 4, instructed the government to search for rare earth metals in the republic.

"They say that we have rare earth minerals in our landfills. <...> This is the future. We need to dig, we need to look at what we have in the ground," Lukashenko said during the adoption of personnel decisions and setting key tasks for the government, his words are quoted by БелТА.

The Head of State stressed that this is a topical issue, and recalled that the President USA Donald Trump is involved in the issue of mining rare earth metals, but Belarusian officials have not yet dealt with this. Lukashenko stressed that this type of minerals is not found in large quantities, and it is necessary to find out how many of them there are in the republic.

In addition, the president instructed to explore other important resources, such as oil, gas and useful chemical elements.

On the eve of March 3, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said that the United States and Ukraine will sign soon the agreement on minerals, disrupted by the altercation between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart By Vladimir Zelensky. The politician pointed out that this agreement, once concluded, would be the path to a strong and lasting economic partnership between Washington and Kiev.

Zelensky said on March 2 at the summit on European security and the conflict in Ukraine that is still ready to sign a resource deal with the United States and hopes to save its relations with Washington.
