On March 4, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill on fines of up to 500 thousand rubles for the sale of non-alcoholic energy drinks to children. Information about this is published in the Duma legislative database of data.

The bill was submitted to the lower parliament of the Government of the Russian Federation in December 2024. It proposes to supplement the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation with a new article. The fine for selling an energy product to a minor, according to the proposal, should range from 30 thousand to 50 thousand rubles for citizens, from 100 thousand to 200 thousand for officials and from 300 thousand to 500 thousand rubles for legal entities.

In August 2024, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the law, prohibiting the sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks, including energy drinks, to minors.

As Polina Kontsedailo, cardiologist and medical expert at INVITRO, said at the end of June of the same year, href="https://iz.ru/1711864/2024-06-13/vrach-rasskazala-o-tiazhelykh-posledstviiakh-upotrebleniia-energetikov"> Energy drinks have an effect on the nervous and cardiovascular systems due to their caffeine and taurine content. In addition, excessive sugar content can lead to obesity and diabetes. The constant use of energy drinks can cause the development of addiction, the specialist warned.
