Myanmar's Prime Minister announces intention to open two consulates General in Russia

Myanmar's Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing has announced his intention to open two consulates general in Russia. He announced this on March 4 during a meeting in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.

"In order to improve diplomatic relations between our two countries, it is planned to open two consulates general in the Russian Federation during my visit," he said.The Prime Minister of Myanmar also asked Mishustin to open the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mandalay. Speaking about the improvement of relations between the two countries and the economic situation, he spoke about the establishment of a bilateral committee for economic cooperation.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister of Myanmar met with the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu. That invited representatives of the country to take part in the Victory Day celebration.

Earlier, on February 23, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Myanmar href="https://iz.ru/1843655/2025-02-23/reshetnikov-obsudil-s-premerom-mianmy-torgovo-ekonomicheskoe-sotrudnichestvo " target="_blank">discussed the implementation of investment infrastructure projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
