A case was opened against Taratuta, a journalist, for failing to fulfill her duties as a foreign agent.

A criminal case on evading the duties of a foreign agent was opened against Yulia Taratuta, the presenter of the Dozhd TV channel (the channel and the journalist were recognized as foreign agents in the territory of the Russian Federation). This was announced on March 4 by the Main Investigation Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for Moscow.

"The Perovsk interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Department for the Eastern Administrative District of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow has opened a criminal case against a foreign agent Yulia Taratuta," the department's Telegram channel says.

According to the investigation, the journalist is suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of p. 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents").

The issue of putting Taratuta on the wanted list is currently being considered.

January 31, Moscow Prosecutor's Office demanded to open a criminal case against the journalist for violating the law on foreign agents.

December 16, 2022 Ministry of Justice of Russia entered in the register of foreign agents Taratuta. She was included in the list in accordance with Russian law.
