The investigative department of the Investigative Committee (IC) in the Altai Territory reported that the reason for the murder of the head of the Zavyalovsky district, Nikolai Onishchenko, could have been a long-standing conflict. On March 4, the department's Telegram channel reported that the attacker had been detained.

He is a 45-year-old resident of the city.

According to preliminary investigation data, he fired a gun at the head of the district, and then tried to commit suicide in his car.

"The reason for the murder could have been a conflict over the removal of the suspect from the post of director of the medical and wellness complex," the agency said in a statement.

According to the Izvestia source, the killer may be his subordinate Anatoly F. His condition is assessed as extremely serious, he is in intensive care.

Earlier on March 4, the SU IC of Russia in the Altai Territory reported that Onishchenko shot while leaving a cafe. A criminal case was opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").
