The Prime Minister of the Canadian province of Ontario, Doug Ford, intends to disable The United States from electricity in response to the duties imposed on Canadian goods. This was reported on March 3 by Toronto Sun.

"If they want to try to destroy Ontario, I will do everything, including shutting them off from power, and I will smile at the same time," Ford said.

He also called on the provinces of Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia to support his initiative.

Ford noted that New York, Michigan and Minnesota are the three main consumers of electricity produced in Ontario. If the United States decides to launch a serious attack on the Canadian province, the response will be "twice as strong," the prime minister concluded.

February 1, US President Donald Trump signed a decree on the introduction of trade tariffs in the amount of 25% on goods from Canada, China and Mexico. He clarified that this measure was taken due to the fact that a large number of illegal migrants come from these countries, who, according to him, pose an immediate threat to the state.
