The American forward of the Amur Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club Alexander Galchenyuk received a Russian passport. This was announced by the team's press service on Tuesday, March 4.

Sergey Abramov, First Deputy Chairman of the Khabarovsk Territory Government and Chairman of the Amur Board of Trustees, noted that citizenship would benefit both athletes and Russian hockey.

"We've talked a lot with Alexander this season, and I can say that in spirit, in mentality, he's our Russian guy," the team's Telegram channel quotes him as saying.

Abramov also wished Galchenyuk a speedy recovery from injury.
