Mikhail Mokeev, director of theater and cinema, actor, teacher of the Moscow Art Theater studio school, died at the age of 73, the press service of the Shchepkin Theater reports.

It is noted that the news of the actor's death was received on March 3.

"Director Mikhail Mokeev died. A special page in the history of our theater is associated with this name. The page is triumphant, loud, jubilant. A page of a unique experiment and a flurry of audience love," the theater's Telegram channel says.

Mokeev's work at the Shchepkin Theater took place in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 1997, his play "Romeo and Juliet" became "a real event in the theatrical life of Belgorod", the production was presented at the Chekhov Festival in Moscow, adds "The newspaper.Ru».

Another notable and daring production was the play "The Thunderstorm" based on Alexander Ostrovsky.

The actor is also known for his roles in the TV series Mistress of My Destiny (2011-2012), Contract Mom (2015), Tatiana's Day (2007-2008), and Bloodhound 2 (2018).
