Russians named the most inappropriate gifts on March 8th


Alcohol was in second place in the list (42%), followed by subscriptions to useful services (32%) and corporate merchandise (29%). Perfumes and cosmetics, as well as themed souvenirs, are considered inappropriate by 29 and 26% of respondents, respectively. Accessories and jewelry received 24% of the votes in the category of unwanted gifts, books — 22%, certificates for procedures and entertainment — 10%, treats and sweets — 8%. Flowers and purchase certificates complete the list of least desired gifts with 5 and 4% of the votes, respectively.
At the same time, 62% of respondents prefer colors on March 8. Certificates for purchases are in second place in popularity (60%), and treats and sweets are in third (44%). This is followed by certificates for treatments and entertainment (43%), perfumes and cosmetics (23%), themed souvenirs (20%), accessories and jewelry (15%), books and alcohol (13% each). Corporate merch and subscriptions to useful services gained 13% and 12%, respectively. Kitchen accessories turned out to be the least popular — 8%.
At the same time, 70% of Russians surveyed said that their companies maintain the tradition of congratulating employees on all gender holidays. Only 3% of employers congratulate their colleagues only on International Women's Day, and 1% — only on Defender of the Fatherland Day. A quarter of companies (26%) do not practice such congratulations at all.
"If earlier a bouquet of flowers and sweets were considered a standard gift for colleagues, now the trend is shifting towards more individual solutions. For example, gift certificates for entertainment, wellness treatments, and master classes are gaining popularity - this reflects a general demand for self-development and self—care. Classic gifts don't disappear, but they become more thoughtful. For example, instead of cut flowers, compositions of stabilized moss or indoor plants are increasingly being presented," said Irina Polyakova, Head of Corporate Customer Support at YUMOPEU.
According to the YUKASSA service, in the period from February 1 to February 15, the number of purchases of confectionery products increased by 78% year-on-year, their average receipt increased by 32%, to 3,753 rubles. The number of purchases of cosmetics and perfumes increased by 23% (the average receipt — by 3%, to 6323 rubles), accessories for women — by 83% (the average receipt was at the level of 11 020 rubles).
