The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party of the German parliament has issued a resolution stating the urgent need to reject any sanctions against third countries and requested the creation of a working group on this issue. On March 4, a meeting of all relevant committees of the AFD of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt appealed to the leadership of the party and its supporters throughout Germany with a request to join the fight against sanctions.

The main provisions of the resolution include ensuring Germany's independence from Brussels in the implementation of economic policy and the rejection of any sanctions in accordance with the principles of free trade.

Among the signatories of the resolution are MEP, Polish presidential candidate Grzegorz Brown, MEP from the Bulgarian Renaissance party Rada Laikova, President of the Italian political alliance movement Patto per il Nord Paolo Grimoldi, representatives of Austria and other EU countries. The meeting was broadcast on YouTube on March 1.

The statement was made taking into account the damage that economic sanctions of all kinds against third countries (Russia, China, Iran) are causing to the German economy. In particular, representatives of the AfD highlighted several key points that the party should rely on in its activities to protect the legitimate interests of German citizens.

According to the party's representatives, "the fundamental rejection of any form of sanctions, inspired by the spirit of free trade," should become a self-evident basic economic and foreign policy position of the AfD program at all levels. Exceptions are allowed only in the case of a legitimate interest of the country.

Members of the AfD of Saxony-Anhalt also ask the Federal Program Commission of the party to create a working group "Sanctions!", which will deal with the issue from the point of view of foreign, economic and social policy, as well as develop strategies and requirements to combat restrictions that do not meet the interests of Germany.

Earlier, on March 3, the Reuters news agency reported that the White House href="https://iz.ru/1848329/2025-03-03/reuters-soobsilo-o-vozmoznyh-planah-ssa-oslabit-antirossiiskie-sankcii " target="_blank">is studying plans for a possible lifting of sanctions from Russia. The administration is considering plans to ease restrictions, as the president USA Donald Trump seeks to restore ties with Moscow and stop the conflict on Ukraine.

The decision to extend the restrictions against the Russian Federation for a year Trump accepted on February 27. It was noted that the document refers to restrictions imposed by the American side in 2014, 2018 and 2022. At the same time, on February 26, Trump announced that in the future it would be considered href="https://iz.ru/1845192/2025-02-26/tramp-zaiavil-o-rassmotrenii-vozmozhnosti-sniatiia-sanktcii-s-rf-v-budushchem " target="_blank">the possibility of lifting American sanctions against Russia. He added that at the moment there are no such agreements.
