The court sentenced 21 Transbaikalians for embezzlement of social benefits

The Karymsky district Court found 21 residents of the Trans-Baikal Territory guilty of fraud committed by a group of persons or by prior agreement on a large scale (Part 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was reported on March 4 in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the region.

"Criminal cases based on the materials of the regional FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were initiated and investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Trans—Baikal Territory under Parts 3, 4 of art. 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the department reported.

It is noted that for embezzlement of federal budget funds on an especially large scale, the defendants were sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 2.3 years to 2.5 years. The press service clarified that the stolen money was allocated by the state to support families with children.

It was established that the theft scheme in 2022 was organized by an employee of a commercial organization for issuing mortgage loans as part of a group of individuals. To carry out criminal activities, the defendants found large families, offered to arrange a mortgage on real estate or land. Subsequently, an inflated price was indicated in the contract.

As a result of the paperwork, the fraudsters received and divided the money among themselves, which was compensated under the federal program. It is specified that over 150 Russians were involved in the activities, and the damage to the state budget amounted to about 80 million rubles.
