The expert named the most dangerous components in cleaning products

Conventional cleaning products often contain components that are dangerous to human health and the environment. On March 4, Alexey Bachurin, the founder of the Allchimiya household chemicals company, told Izvestia in an interview.
So, the words "fragrance" or "fragrance" in detergent may contain phthalates that can cause rashes and hormonal disorders. Anti-fat household chemicals may contain phosphates that irritate and accelerate algae blooms in the water. Aggressive surfactants (surfactants), anti-plaque abrasive particles and glycols are also harmful to the skin.
In addition, the expert drew attention to chlorine disinfectants and bleaching agents: chlorine vapors irritate the mucous membranes, and in confined spaces they can cause suffocation if used incorrectly. Windscreen wipers with ammonia, inhaling which causes nausea and headaches, pose a similar danger.
Among other components with harmful vapors for humans, Bachurin named oil solvents that purify fat, the preservative formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and glycols.
At the same time, the expert noted that the combined effect of several dangerous components significantly increases the risk of negative consequences, especially in children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
"The best way is to choose products with hypoallergenic formulas without aggressive surfactants, phthalates and preservatives based on formaldehyde. They handle most typical pollutants without harming health," he added.
On February 12, Andrey Dorokhov, Associate Professor of the A.N. Reformatsky Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the MIREA Russian Technical University warned about the danger of fake perfumes. He noted that real perfumes undergo strict safety tests. In turn, fake perfumes, due to the lack of control over the production process, contain substances that can decompose and form harmful compounds.
