The President of Ukraine On March 3, Vladimir Zelensky appointed Valery Zaluzhny, the current ambassador to the United Kingdom, as the country's permanent representative to the International Maritime Organization.
"To appoint an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Valeriy Zaluzhny, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) concurrently," reads the text of the document published on the official website of the President of the country.
IMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for measures to improve the safety and security of international navigation, as well as for the prevention of marine pollution by ships.
Zaluzhny He assumed duties as Ambassador to the United Kingdom on July 10, 2024.
In early February last year, President Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhny. He appointed Alexander Syrsky to his post, who has served as commander of the Ground Forces since 2019.
On March 7, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced appointment of Zaluzhny to the post of Ambassador to the UK. Zelensky explained the decision his personal desire to work as a diplomat.
