Marine Le Pen, the leader of the right-wing National Unification faction in the French parliament, said on March 3 that the idea of sending the French military to Ukraine is madness.

"Resource Agreement (between USA and Ukraine. It seems mutually beneficial to me, but I think that sending French combat troops to Ukrainian soil is madness," she said, addressing parliament.

Le Pen added that the participation of the French military is possible only within the framework of a peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the United Nations.

In addition, she opposed Ukraine's accession to both NATO and the EU, noting that this could lead to serious problems for European farmers and create conditions for unfair competition. She also expressed disagreement with the possible use of French nuclear weapons to protect other EU countries.

On February 20, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Paris is now does not consider sending its military contingent to participate in the Ukrainian conflict. Nevertheless, he pointed out that after the crisis is resolved, the deployment of French peacekeepers to Ukraine is not excluded.
