Robert Fico threatened to block the EU summit on Ukraine due to gas transit

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has threatened the European Union (EU) to block the summit on Ukraine due to Kiev's refusal to resume natural gas transit. This was reported on March 3 by the agency CTK.
It is noted that Fico intends to do this on condition that government officials do not support Bratislava's demand for the resumption of natural gas transit through its territory.
"It may happen that I block the adoption of conclusions that relate to large—scale financial and military assistance to Ukraine regarding the conflict," the Prime Minister said.
At the same time, he admitted the possibility of a peaceful solution based on Bratislava's proposal regarding gas transit through Ukraine.
Earlier, on February 19, Slovakia condemned the EU's double standards in the transit of Russian gas. Slovakia's Economy Minister Denisa Sakova said that the European Commission (EC) and Slovakia href="https://iz.ru/1841340/2025-02-19/v-slovakii-osudili-dvoinye-standarty-es-v-voprose-tranzita-rossiiskogo-gaza " target="_blank">disagree on gas transit through Ukraine.
Gazprom announced on January 1, 2025 on the suspension of Russian gas supplies to the EU through Ukraine. 50% of Russian gas exports went to Europe via this route. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico noted that this would have radical consequences for the European Union, but not for Russia.
