The State Duma expressed doubt about Britain's ability to send troops to Ukraine.

The UK may try to send troops to Ukraine under the guise of peacekeepers, but in this case London will need the approval of the members of the UN Security Council (SC), including Moscow. Currently, the UK is a generator of tension between Russia and Ukraine. Yuri Shvytkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, shared this opinion with Izvestia on March 3.

Earlier in the day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that London href="https://iz.ru/1848232/2025-03-03/premer-ministr-velikobritanii-vystupil-za-otpravku-voisk-na-ukrainu " target="_blank">advocates sending the kingdom's military to Ukraine. The head of the British government also said that Europe would continue to arm Kiev "after peace is established."

"Of course, this leads to a further serious escalation of tension in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In this case, the UK acts as a generator of escalating tensions, doing everything possible to escalate the conflict between Russia and Ukraine," Shvytkin commented.

He noted that in this way the UK is trying to take the lead in providing assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and supporting the neo-Nazi Kiev regime. Thus, according to the interlocutor of the publication, the deployment of the United Kingdom troops can be perceived as the occupation of the country by the NATO bloc.

"As I understand it, they want to introduce troops under the guise of blue helmets, peacekeepers. This requires the consent of Russia, Ukraine, and the UN Security Council. Therefore, I do not think that this will happen," the politician concluded.
