When choosing a new car, you need to determine the budget and purpose of using the car, as well as review information from all distributors in your region of residence, Anastasia Baibarosha, head of the department for work with passenger vehicle representatives at Alfa-Leasing Group, told Izvestia on March 4. She gave some advice to Russians who decided to buy a car.

As long as dealers have special conditions for the purchase of a new car from last year, you should not postpone the deal, the expert believes.

"Decide on the budget and model of the car: carefully study its technical characteristics, as well as the manufacturer's recommendations for operation. This is how you can roughly calculate the future cost of maintaining a car. I recommend not to settle for two or three car dealerships, but to check the information from all distributors in the region of residence," Baibarosha added.

She stressed that it is necessary to understand the purpose for which a car is purchased. If you plan to operate the car in the city and rarely travel outside it, then you should pay attention to those cars that have lower fuel consumption.

"If a car is purchased for off—road driving, it is worth giving preference to models with increased ground clearance and all-wheel drive: they provide better cross-country ability and the ability to overcome difficult road conditions, including dirt roads," the expert advised.

In addition, according to her, it is worth checking the availability of modern safety systems such as stability control (ESP), anti-lock braking system (ABS), airbags. They will provide additional protection in emergency situations on the road.

Baybarosha noted that before buying, it is worth studying the reviews of the selected model in order to understand its possible disadvantages and approximate maintenance and repair costs. It is also worth checking how much tax you will have to pay for the selected car.

"In addition, it is possible to study the offers of dealers from neighboring regions of the Russian Federation. Often, you can save a lot on the interregional price difference, and most dealers offer car delivery services to any city convenient for the buyer. If you have a car, consider exchanging it under the trade-in program. This way you can save from 750 thousand rubles," the expert advised.

Earlier, on February 27, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said that in Russia a historical record of sales of new pickups for the year has been recorded. By the end of last year, 29.2 thousand such cars were sold in the country, with an annual increase of 65%.
