Since March 1, Russians have had the opportunity to establish a self-ban on lending. Analysts of the financial marketplace "I will choose. conducted a survey and found that about 40% consider such a measure effective, while one in ten respondents will connect such a self-lock to their elderly relative. Izvestia got acquainted with the survey results on March 4.

The majority of respondents positively assessed the initiative: 39% consider self-locking to be an effective protection against fraudsters, and another 26% support the idea, but express doubts about the usability. Another 15% expressed the opinion that more serious measures are needed to combat intruders. At the same time, 13% of respondents consider the innovation to be an unnecessary restriction, and 7% are confident that everyone should independently control their finances.

The most common reason for activating the ban is the fear of fraud and obtaining a loan without the owner's knowledge (49%). Also, 27% of respondents consider it as a way to protect themselves from the temptation of rash loans, and 13% will use the function to control the family budget. At the same time, 11% of Russians said they would connect the service to their elderly relatives.

At the same time, 35% of respondents fear difficulties in disabling the ban if necessary, and 26% point to the risk of technical failures and leakage of personal data, another 22% of respondents believe that information about the launch of the function is not widespread enough in the media. Only 17% of respondents do not see any problems with self-locking.

"The results of the study indicate a high degree of demand for a self-locking mechanism for lending among Russians. However, there are still issues related to usability and technical risks, personal data protection and citizen awareness. The systemic effect of the innovation will largely depend on the quality of its implementation at the level of banks and credit institutions," said the Director of the Communications Policy Department of the financial marketplace "Choose." by Anna Romanenko.

According to her, the most important factors for the success of the mechanism will be the speed of processing customer requests, as well as the ability to flexibly manage the ban through digital platforms.

The day before, the Ministry of Finance of Russia reported that the self-locking service for loans and borrowings, which started operating on the Gosuslugi portal on March 1, was used by 1.7 million people in two days. For those who applied for the connection of such a service, a special mark appears in their credit history. If there is one, banks and microfinance organizations must be refused on a loan application or loan.
