The White House pointed out Zelensky's unwillingness to peace talks.

In the USA, they understand that the president Of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, based on the current situation, is not ready to hold peace talks, but even if he decided to postpone them "for later," time is no longer on his side. This was announced on March 3 by the presidential aide USA National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.
He noted that this became obvious following Zelensky's meeting with the US president By Donald Trump in the White House.
"The problem is that time is not on his side, not on the side of [those who consider it necessary] to continue the conflict forever. The patience of the Americans is not unlimited, their wallets are not bottomless, and our ammunition depots are not unlimited either," Waltz said on the TV channel's program href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/02/politics/video/sotu-waltz-discusses-zelensky-trump-meeting-ukraine " target="_blank">CNN.
As the White House representative added, Washington remains confident that the strategy of continuing the conflict "in the spirit of the First World War" does not lead to anything good, and will only end in disaster - "a meat grinder of people, ammunition and national resources," Waltz noted. In addition, the Ukrainian leader refused a deal with the United States on natural resources.
"Zelensky could leave the White House, concluding a deal that would economically bind the United States and Ukraine for a generation. But he didn't do it. What we don't have right now is Zelensky's statement: "I am ready to take the necessary steps, hold the necessary negotiations and make the necessary compromises in order to end hostilities and move to a cease—fire," he added. At the same time, Trump is still ready to sign this document with Ukraine if the Kiev authorities change their position on the conflict.
"We need to hear from Zelensky that he regrets what happened, is ready to sign a deal on minerals and participate in peace talks. That's not too much to ask. The Americans generously supported Ukraine, but the military operation&It cannot continue indefinitely without a real path to peace," the White House spokesman said.
Earlier on March 3, Finnish President Alexander Stubb compared the public altercation between Presidents Zelensky and Trump in the White House with a quarrel in marriage. Stubb called on the parties to "take a deep breath, take a cold bath, go to the sauna, catch your breath and return to the negotiating table."
During a meeting in the Oval Office on February 28, a verbal altercation took place between Trump and Zelensky. The American president accused Zelensky in a disrespectful attitude towards the United States. According to him, the head of the Kiev regime is "playing with the Third World War," as well as with the lives of millions of people. Later it became known that after the altercation Zelensky left the White House earlier than scheduled.
