Payment in digital rubles using a QR code was tested in the Moscow metro

The Moscow Metro conducted a closed-door test of paying for a ride using a universal QR code using digital rubles. VTB Bank, together with the Bank of Russia and the Moscow Metro State Unitary Enterprise, tested the technology, the credit institution said, noting that previously, only payment through the Quick Payment System (SBP) was available as part of the use of the QR code. The focus group participants successfully purchased several Troika transport cards and replenished their balance at the checkout using QR codes.
A universal QR code is a technological solution that makes it easier for payers to pay for goods. With its use, there is no need to search among the many QR codes for the right one: you need to log into the bank's application from a mobile device, scan the single code posted on the cash register with the camera, and then select the desired payment method on your phone - for example, through the SBP or in the future — in digital rubles.
According to Vitaly Sergeychuk, a member of the VTB Management Board, the bank is actively implementing innovative payment solutions. "Testing payments in digital rubles via universal QR allows us to offer this technological integration to large business customers when implementing payments through API solutions that allow different programs to interact with each other through a set of protocols," he said. This approach allows businesses to use a new payment tool that "can be integrated into existing solutions," Sergeychuk added.
