The head of AVTOVAZ announced the start date of production of Lada Iskra

The start of mass production of the new Lada Iskra family of cars will take place on April 19, 2025, exactly 55 years after the release of the first VAZ-2101 car. The head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov revealed the start date of the model release, commenting on the awarding of the car factory staff with the Order "For Valiant Labor".

"On April 19, 1970, the first popularly beloved Kopecks rolled off the assembly line in Tolyatti, and we are grateful to our veterans who created this plant and still help us with their experience. 55 years later, on April 19, 2025, we will celebrate this day with the start of industrial production of our newest model, the Lada Iskra," the press service of the automobile company quoted Sokolov as saying on March 3.

In June 2025, AvtoVAZ will hold the world premiere of a new crossover created by engineers on the Vesta platform. Its production is scheduled to begin in 2026. The further development of the model range is still a trade secret, the top manager noted.

The AVTOVAZ team was awarded the Order "For Valiant Labor" by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin No. 112 dated March 3, 2025 for his great contribution to the development of the automotive industry and the achieved labor successes. The Order of Valiant Labor is one of the highest state awards in Russia, it was established on February 1, 2024.

February 28 AvtoVAZ showed the interior design of the production model Lada Iskra. The car is designed taking into account the preferences of young customers, the company said.

Before that, on February 27, it was reported that Lada Iskra will be offered in three versions, with an atmospheric 1.6 engine from Lada Granta with a capacity of 90 or 106 hp, with a manual transmission and a CVT.
