The death toll from a car hitting a crowd in Mannheim has increased to two.

"Two people were killed and 25 were injured, 15 of them seriously," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the driver of the car crashed into a crowd of people in the pedestrian zone on Planken Street near the water tower next to the Galeria Kaufhof shopping center.

Almost all streets in the city center are blocked. All roads and bridges leading from Mannheim are controlled by police officers, and a helicopter is circling the village.

It is clarified that it is not yet clear whether it was an accident or an attack.
