The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen will present to the member states of the European Union (EU) a plan for the rearmament of Europe. She announced this on March 3 at a press conference in Brussels, a fragment of the broadcast of which was published on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Leyen, tomorrow, on March 4, she will inform the EU member states in a letter about the European rearmament plan, as countries need a large-scale strengthening of defense.
"We want lasting peace, but lasting peace can only be built on strength, and strength begins with strengthening ourselves, and that is the purpose of the plan that I will present to the member countries tomorrow," she added.
Von der Leyen also announced that she would present a comprehensive plan for the development of European arms production and defense capabilities at a special summit of the leaders of the 27 EU countries on March 6 in Brussels.
