In Russia, it is worth introducing additional weekends in honor of Easter and Trinity holidays, because Orthodoxy is a significant part of the country's cultural code. This was stated on March 3 by Dmitry Gusev, deputy of the Fair Russia — For Truth party and first deputy chairman of the State Duma Control Committee, in his letter to the governors of the Russian regions.

The deputy pointed out that Orthodoxy in the Russian Federation is much more important than just religion, and Christmas, for example, is already a day off at the federal level. In addition, other religious holidays are celebrated in a number of regions, such as Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Adha, which are also declared days off.

"Why not do the same for Easter and Whitsunday? As decided in Crimea. Let's finally recognize the main Christian holidays as state holidays and take a day off the day after them," the deputy wrote in a letter available to Izvestia.

Gusev stressed that this would help strengthen traditions, support families and contribute to the spiritual development of people — they would spend time with loved ones without being distracted by work. The deputy recalled that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has repeatedly pointed out that Russia and Orthodoxy are inseparable.

In addition, Gusev drew attention to the fact that Article 67 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation states: the country preserves the memory of ancestors who transmitted ideals and faith in God, and the federal law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations" stipulates that Russia recognizes the special role of Orthodoxy in the development of culture and spirituality of the country.

Earlier, on February 27, Rostrud recalled that in 2025 there will be no shortened working week in honor of International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8, because the holiday falls on a Saturday. This weekend will be postponed to June, and the residents of the country they will be able to relax from June 12 to June 15 in honor of Russia Day.
