French President Emmanuel Macron said he tried to dissuade his American counterpart Donald Trump's refusal to immediately resolve the conflict on Ukraine. He made the corresponding statement in an interview with the newspaper Il Foglio, published on March 3.

"That is, not to seek an immediate ceasefire, but rather a truce at the level of air, sea and energy infrastructure," Macron said, arguing that, in his opinion, such a regime is easier to control.

As Macron pointed out, the truce at specific levels is "manageable." He also stressed that the European side, in turn, would negotiate on security guarantees.

Bloomberg reported on March 3 that Britain and France are going to present the Europe-Plus coalition to Trump with the possible participation of Canada in order to convince him to continue supporting Ukraine. According to the newspaper, the plan is based on the assumption that not all representatives of the US administration are ready for a possible break in contacts between Washington and Kiev after Trump's public skirmish with the president of Ukraine.
