- The political scientist pointed out the possibility of stopping direct US aid to Ukraine.

The President USA Donald Trump has a number of levers of pressure on Ukraine in order to force Kiev to take the necessary steps for Washington. In an interview with Izvestia on March 3, Alexander Dudchak, a member of the international public movement "The Other Ukraine", PhD in Economics, told more about this.
Earlier in the day, The New York Times newspaper, citing a representative of the Trump administration, reported that on Monday the head of state would hold meetings with his top national security aides at which href="https://iz.ru/1847881/2025-03-03/smi-uznali-o-planah-trampa-obsudit-s-cinovnikami-prekrasenie-pomosi-kievu?utm_source=yxnews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fdzen.ru%2Fnews%2Finstory%2Fdcbb8071-f863-5d62-8ab5-72f3111d35d5" target="_blank">measures to suspend or cancel American aid to Ukraine will be considered. It is noted that we can also talk about equipment and ammunition that were agreed upon under former US President Joe Biden. According to media reports, such steps by Trump may be related to his href="https://iz.ru/1847283/2025-03-01/vstrecha-trampa-i-zelenskogo-zakonchilas-krupnym-skandalom-pochemu-eto-vazhno " target="_blank">an altercation with the Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky at the White House on February 28.
"This is a serious threat from Trump and his team. It's unlikely that it will come to that, but let's just say they can stop some kind of direct assistance to Ukraine or what they call assistance. <..."By and large, everything is in line with Trump's policy when he said that Europe should bear the brunt of the costs of this conflict," Dudchak commented.
Despite this, he added, the American military-industrial complex will not stop for at least the next 10 years — European countries will continue to buy weapons from the United States for Ukraine. Trump sees such a scheme as pragmatic, the political scientist believes.
"[Trump] really has a lot of leverage. The IMF (International Monetary Fund. — Ed.) suddenly revise the terms of the loan, and the Americans will demand repayment of debts. It's enough for them to hint that it's time to pay off their debts. If there are no resources, give me the money. If there is no money, they will simply be sent a package of documents that they must sign. You don't even have to meet in person. And there will be no negotiations on this issue," the source concluded.
Presidential aide USA National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, in turn, said on March 2 that Washington doubts Zelensky's willingness to negotiate on peaceful settlement. According to him, the American administration cannot get an understanding from the Ukrainian side of what concessions it is ready for a peaceful settlement.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, during a briefing on March 3, called the scandal in the White House an unprecedented event. According to him, Moscow continues its dialogue with Washington on the normalization of bilateral relations.
