Capybara aviary caught fire in Rostov-on-Don

The roof of the capybara enclosure caught fire at the Rostov-on-Don Zoo, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on March 3.

All the animals managed to be evacuated to a safe place, none of the animals were injured.

"Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations eliminated the flames on 8 sq.m. m and three Patagonian dogs were taken out of the smoke—filled room," the department's Telegram channel says.

Before that, on February 24, a fire broke out in an adjacent room from the Four Paws animal shelter in Berezovsky, Sverdlovsk region. During it, a volunteer was injured, and animals died, their number is not specified. Several dozen cats and dogs were rescued from the fire. One of the volunteers who actively participated in the rescue of animals was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning.
